The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Minister of Education, has announced the date for Reopening of Schools.
Remember that schools were closed down due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in March, The Federal Government had on Friday, announced that Federal Government-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria, as well as Federal Government Colleges, otherwise known as Unity Schools, will reopen on October 12th for the continuation of academic activities.
State and Private universities are also expected to decide on their resumption date and resume accordingly.
he Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, addressing a press conference in Abuja, said the decision to reopen the schools was due to the fall in the COVID-19 cases across the country.

He said: “We have consulted widely with stakeholders in the sector including the Association of Private Schools (NAPPS), Provosts of Colleges of Education, Rectors of Polytechnics, Vice-Chancellors of Universities, State Governors, Commissioners of Education and other development partners on the matter and secured their support and cooperation.”
He cautioned schools to abide by the COVID-19 protocol put in place to ensure that students are safe and their health not at risk.
