The Gombe State Government has established four schools for children with special needs in the three senatorial districts of the state.
The schools are; Government Science Secondary School Kaltungo; Government Secondary School Dukku; Government Secondary School Dadinkowa and the Government Girls Secondary School Doma.
The state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Habu Dahiru, said the state government has approved the conversion of some schools across the three senatorial zones in the state to special schools.
Dahiru, at a briefing on Wednesday, said the schools’ conversion would provide an opportunity for proper use of available teachers as well as to create a platform for students in special schools to compete with their counterparts across the country.
He said, “The special schools will be given adequate attention to be able to produce students who will be filling the state’s quota in the Nigerian universities and other higher institutions.”
